Day 2: not a thing at all.

Day 2: not a thing at all.

I'm wrapping up what is turning out to be a rather uneventful day.

It was raining this morning. The news about the recent weather in Japan has made me fear the worst. That and the crowds expected as the new emperor and empress being crowned. As it turns out, today is a national holiday, and what's known as The Enthronement Ceremony was supposed to bring throngs on people in. But the rain stopped a public parade. Maybe I lucked out?

I met Maki today, at a place called A to Z Cafe, which featured the work of Japanese artist Yoshimoto Nara. We had a quiet conversation about work, travel, etc -- with the occasional reference to life, and the very very indirect bits about relationships and the singleness of existence (something that we always used to talk about in the past). And that was that.

I took a ride back on the Ginza Line, wandered around Kanda for a little bit before returning back to my hotel.

And now, I'm already thinking about tomorrow, in which I'll be heading out to Saigon for the first time. Oddly enough, mostly about the logistics of getting to the airport -- I'm less worried about how the trip itself will be.

Well, I'll be finding out very shortly how things will be.
