day half and day one

So I'm determined to write about my adventures here. Sort of.

About today, and I'll mix in parts of yesterday. Come to think of it, it is relatively uneventful, but here goes.

I flew into Haneda, and realized what folly I have committed, since I decided to take a duffel bag, instead of a roll-on suitcase. I didn't think it was too bad, but considering how much junk I stuffed into the duffel bag, it was a struggle trying to carry it around.

This seems like a useless detail, but it was my first thought, as I waited for my duffel bag at the baggage carousel: I regret bringing a duffel bag instead of a full suit case. Apparently, the loose straps had also got caught on something. Whoops. Thankfully, I landed into Haneda and not Narita, otherwise it would have been an extremely long journey to my hotel.

For whatever reason, my phone has been giving me incorrect GPS information (it never gets right the direction that I'm facing), so it's been a little challenge navigating through Japan. Definitely a first world problem, if I even encountered one.

As I sat in my hotel, having been awake for quite literally over 24 hours, I thought about what I was going to be doing while I was here in Tokyo. And nothing came to me. Perhaps because I've been here so many times. It's not really a vacation right now, just like a stop-over for my real purpose: heading into Vietnam to partake in Sean's wedding.

I was chatting with Sean and his soon-to-be wife over WhatsApp with the airplane's shitty (and expensive) WiFi. I couldn't help but smile when I thought about how happy they seem to be.

And for the sake of screwing with flow and continuity, I'm just going to move into my day here thus far. I went to Odaiba, for lack of anything better to do, got in touch with Maki, then had some Takoyaki. The day isn't over yet, but I suspect I will be looking at getting a suit case that can roll my shit around. Other than that, it is high on my list of priorities to avoid riding the train during rush hour.

I'm also always surprised at the lack of reliable free WiFi in Japan. Thankfully GoogleFi service works out here, albeit the hotspot feature doesn't seem to be working.

Anyway, where was I? I know not, and that's a good indication to wrap this garbage up.
