some people share the most interesting views on the most useless of debates. take for example, someone i met who had quite an interesting thought about vegetarians: "i don't understand whole 'vegeterian thing.' I mean, cows are nature's candies!!" after which, i could literally hear the vegans in our midst writhing in disgust. for some reason or another, i couldn't stop laughing.

at least some things can make me laugh. it's a change from the mundanity (is that word?) of reality, especially when all one does is dream about another day and hope for the best. i think it goes without saying that even that can be hard at times - to the point that closing my eyes is the only real comfort that i can afford.

how does that saying go? "we suffer, and yet, somehow, we still wish to live." i heard it from a Hayao miyazaki film (princess mononoke, i think). it's an interesting conundrum, isn't it?

on a slightly different note: my phase ii registration happened the other day - probably the last time i'll ever be registering for classes. i probably only taking four classes: english in literature, Introduction to Narrative Theory, the Character, advanced japanese, and probably one of two possible classes (machine structures, or another class called "databases for engineering data management"). finally done with cognitive science.

summer is two-thirds of the way done. soon enough, perhaps the mundanity will go away, even if for a brief moment. i seriously hope that the fall OCR run is better than last year. unlike last year, i won't have the option of staying another year at berkeley, while the job market actually has a job for me. my boss suggested i go freelance and just contract jobs at my leisure.

that would almost be a dream come true (well, sort of). although job security for a freelancer doesn't seem that good: you're not a regular employee, and you'd be on the constant lookup for the next contract job to come your way. i might as well be a technical writer. maybe i can do both. hehe.

in other great news, my friend was kind enough to procure me a case of yeo's soy drink. har, har!!

why yes - my and my mug are having a blast; thanks for asking.
